Happy New Year everyone, it’s been an awesome year full of fun, excitement and drama!!
In 2008 I bought a new house, started a new job, resigned from my job twice, landed a new job, got married and best of all Trudi and I are expecting our first child.
2009, what does it hold? well who knows but I can guarantee that it will not be dull!! There is no sign of baby boy yet but if he is anything like his dad he will definitely be on time!!
The blog has been great and I thank everyone who has supported it over the year. Mr B loves the blog so much that he now has a Baby Blog and Sports Blog. Who knows where I will take the Blog next year.
Mr B will be teaching Fab4, Year 4/5 next year at Hokowhitu School. Aren’t they lucky! Can’t wait to meet my new class and get stuck in to some new learning. I have been in contact with a class in America and we are going to set up a blogging/skype project between our classes next year. Should be awesome!!
Enjoy your holiday everyone and don’t be afraid to drop me a line next year, I would love to hear what you have been up too.

Hey everyone, well I have been into my new class and had a bit of a look around. It is painted all these different colours and looks like something out of the psychedelic 70’s. It looks like it is 3 rooms opened up into 1.
I am going to have to work hard to transform it into something special. Mr B doesn’t even know where to start with this one!!! Check out the photos.

Well Room 5 it was fantastic meeting you all today. I have heard so many wonderful things about you all throughout the year that I had to come and visit before I lost the chance! I want to thank you for all the lovely presents you have given Mr B and I, as well as the thoughtful cards, pictures and many other things you have given us over the past year.
I hope you enjoyed the story I read at lunchtime - it was the first time I have ever read a story to a class before - and you guys were great listeners! Even though Mr B is leaving Newbury, I hope you keep track of the blog and let us both know how you are all doing. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and happy New Year and hope you have a fun summer holiday. By Trudi

Well team, it’s finally the end!!! It has been an awesome year full of fun, excitement and drama!! We have done lots of different things and hopefully learnt lots of important stuff that you can use in your future.
I have been thinking about our class and whether I taught the things that I wanted to this year. I have come up with 4 things which I hope have come through in our class and that you will take away from R5.
1) Be confident - Believe in yourself, you all have talents!! Find out what you love doing and follow that dream.
2) Be kind and friendly to others - Simple yet so important!!!
3) ICT is the way of the future - Don’t be afraid of computers they are wonderful creative tools.
4) Have Fun!!!!! - At the end of the day having fun and enjoying life is what it is all about.
I have enjoyed everyone’s company and I always looked forward to coming into our class each day. R5 will always be a special class which I will never forget.
And finally keep on Blogging!!!! Mrbakersblog.com may no longer be your class Blog but you were the first students to use the Blog. Take part in the activities, leave comments and enjoy the Blog, you will always be welcome!!!
Enjoy the Holidays and hopefully next time you see me, Mr B will be a dad!!!

Wow, the end of the year is nearly upon us so I decided to make a Photostory of 2008. A lot of my photos were lost when my computer got stolen earlier in the year. Fortunately I have managed to piece together what’s left over into a slideshow.
The slideshow got to big to play on the Blog so I had to put it on our Wiki. Just click on This Link to check it out. It’s awesome!!!!!

Today I set the children an egg challenge. They had to build a structure that would stop an egg from breaking if it was dropped from a large height. Each group had some newspaper, sticks, tape and a paper plate. All groups succeeded but unfortunately Mr B broke a few eggs. Check it out.

Today the Hillary team went on an end of year outing to the Lido. It was awesome fun and the kids deserved it after all their hard work throughout the year. Click Here to watch a Photostory of the trip.
Well we all know Mr B loves Blogging but it is catching on. Trudi has a Blog called Baker Baby Blog and she is going to use it to keep everyone up to date on baby news.
Also a group of students in my class now have their very own Blogs. Talk about cool!! If you want to check them out click on the link in the sidebar under Student Blogs. Please leave a comment, I’m sure the students would love to hear from you.
Isn’t ICT fun? Hopefully the one thing I have taught my students this year is the endless possibilities of ICT. lets get Blogging everyone!!!!

HOW MY FRIEND WAS MURDERED
Once upon a time there lived a girl named Emily. That’s in the past of course because she’s dead now.Today I’m here to tell you how my friend was murdered.
It was a misty, rainy night and Emily was walking home from swimming when she heard fast footsteps behind her. She turned but there was no one behind her. She kept walking, then she heard it again. She kept walking as she knew no one was there.
However the footsteps got louder and then they got quicker, she turned with fright. There stood Emma wearing a long black coat. Emma stared straight into Emily’s eyes….suddenly Emily dropped dead on the ground. Emma took a quick look at her then kicked her in the drain and ran off into the darkness.
